FUNN – Sharjah Media Arts for Youth and Children (Sharjah FUNN) hosted the biggest video gaming experience in the Emirate.
Sharjah FUNN is an organization established by the Sharjah government under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness, the Ruler of Sharjah) to promote and support the Media Arts (animation, film making, graphic design, etc.) for children and youth of the UAE. They decided to hold their first Video Gaming Experience, a massive 3-day gaming event which featured some of the latest games, tournaments, and activities.

The event was the first of its kind in the Emirate of Sharjah, and they turned to us to help them create buzz and reach their target through careful social media marketing strategy. We only had two weeks to create the campaign, so we knew we had to hurry without making any compromises to the outcome.

Our Target:
Our targets were school children, university students and families in general. We also identified the importance of contacting local artists, you tubers, game developers, film-makers, authors and budding game developers who understood the importance and appreciated this kind of initiative. They proved to be very important in getting the word out to their circles. Finally, we reached out to media and a few carefully selected influencers.
Our Strategy:
After identifying our target, we narrowed down the platforms on which we focused our efforts. The platforms in question were Google Display Ads, Facebook Ads and Instagram Ads and we distributed the budget across these mediums to gain targeted and relevant visibility, likes, and shares. We crafted the content that grabbed the audience’s attention and had relevance to them. That way we inspired them to take the desired action – keep spreading the word and attend the event.
Outcome:
The goal was to generate buzz and motivate relevant people to attend the event, and the outcome exceeded the expectations. Through paid reach, we were able to target the audience, define a call to action for the content and obtain the right number to evaluate the success. With careful social media monitoring, we gained immensely relevant feedback and outlined key performing indicators with which we measured the success of the campaigns. The report we created at the end of the event serves as a guide for future occasions and has provided tremendous value to Sharjah FUNN’s understanding of their audience behavior.
